Faris loves to merantau - mostly through the vehicle of a good book, the fuel of great music, and that bit of tasty chocolate. He also enjoys melek-melek with family, friends & singing crickets. When the weather is not too blistering, he loves to spot hua-hee ferns and comfort shy mimosas. Flaneuring between roaring metal animals in the city and meandering to sudden greenery areas is a delight.
Everyday, he wakes up excitedly to answer perennial pertinent questions - What colour might today’s sunset be? Whose gift of smile is waiting behind a sad face? Only to realise he did not notice the dawn that just passed, or if he himself was smiley or sad when he woke up. Still, he laughs confidently every dawn, chope-ing imaginary undone items on to-do-lists. Life however, never fails to laugh at his still undone items after dusk.
Come, come, share a laugh or cry with Faris if you also realise there is nothing you absolutely must do or be. We can still enjoy being together, even if we realise later that the giggles in drops of tears cannot capture miracles of everyday mystery, madness and magic.
I struggled painfully with maintaining the seven dimensions of wellness in my life. I lived in pain. Physically, I had various ailments since my teens such as chronic bleeding, eczema, trigeminal neuralgia, persistent migraines, and so on. Intellectually, I struggled as I had to balance various aspects of wellness and I found myself in positions where I was usually the black sheep in many public or private circles.
This book is a journey about healing adorned with my unique small perspectives of gems. I invite you to my quest to discover What Has Society Got to Do With My Pain, through the lens of social sciences, biology, history, philosophy, spirituality—all encapsulated in my ever evolving, fluid self, rooted in eternal principles to fly above in exploration of my vast self.
