Dr. Tarek Elgawhary will be discussing his book, In Search of Mindfulness, in which he provides a simple outline of what mindfulness is, according to Islamic teachings, and how to turn its three main components (meditation, remembrance and kindness) into daily practices that yield results.
Meditation is not a luxury, rather it is an integral practice to living a healthy, mindful, and balanced life.
Dr. Tarek Elgawhary is a scholar of Islam and comparative religions having studied at both Princeton University and al-Azhar Seminary. He is the creator of the Making Sense of Islam platform where he discusses issues related to Islam and mindfulness.
Dr. Tarek Elgawhary currently serves as the resident scholar at the Islamic Community Center of Potomac (ICCP). He is also an entrepreneur, teacher, and philanthropist. He is also the CEO and co-founder of the Coexist Corp., a business enterprise stemming from the Coexist Foundation.
