Khir Johari will talk about his landmark book, The Food of Singapore Malays: Gastronomic Travels Through the Archipelago. Between readings of selected passages, as well as a show-and-tell explication of the book’s key insights using actual food items and artefacts, Khir will discuss why and to what extent his 624-page bestseller “is not a cookbook, but the unwritten story of a people.”

Audience members are encouraged to participate actively in the concluding question-and-answer session. So come prepared with an appetite for knowledge.

Limited autographed copies of the book will be available for sale during this event. If you have already bought a copy, approach Khir at the end of the session to get your copy personally signed!
