This year’s Islamic Civilisation Book Club culminates with Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad’s Travelling Home: Essays on Islam in Europe.

Dr Samir Mahmoud will be our guest scholar for the post-reading discussion on 4 December, Sunday 10:30am Singapore time. 

Dr Samir will be joining us via Zoom from Australia. The book club will still meet in-person at Wardah Books but participants may also choose to log in via Zoom from wherever they are.

Dr Samir Mahmoud is Academic Director of Usul Academy. He has a BA (Hons) in Anthropology & Politics with a focus on multicultural theory and comparative religion, and an MA in Architectural History, Theory & Urban Design with a focus on the traditional townscape from the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia. He also holds an MPhil in Theology & Religious Studies with a focus on comparative philosophy and aesthetics. He completed a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Winter (Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad).
