In literature, we explore stories that flesh out the complexities of ethics, morality, and emotion; allowing us to connect better as human beings. Moreover, stories illustrate, complicate, warn, model, transmit, and convey universal tropes that educate desire into love, fury into temperance, and recklessness into prudence. We see this in world literature such as the Thousand and One Nights, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and even the Lord of the Rings. Closer to home, stories written by Singaporeans explore the entanglements of human experience, refracting the particularities of our context, language and cultural sensibilities. Literature lies at the very heart of a nation, but in Singapore, the island’s creative literary output, also known as SingLit, has yet to find a mass audience. With the introduction of the Culture Pass for SingLit, we hope this will change.
In conjunction with the launch of the Culture Pass for SingLit, Wardah Books, along with other bookshops islandwide, is celebrating our home literature.
From 1 March 2026, eligible SingLit books may be bought with Culture Pass.
