Among the treasures of Islamic devotional literature is Kamāl al-Faraḥ wa al-Surūr bi Mawlid Maẓhar al-Nūr by the Moroccan scholar Shaykh Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥājj al-ʿIyāshī Sukayrij (1878–1944). Written in his youth, it reflects the erudition and spiritual depth that later made him one of North Africa’s most celebrated scholars.
This Mawlid is more than a narration of the Prophet’s ﷺ birth. It interweaves praise, reflection, and love, affirming that his arrival perfected happiness, lifted grief, and opened the doors of divine mercy. The text highlights the Muḥammadan Reality—the primordial light created before time—describing the cosmic signs and heavenly rejoicing that marked his conception and birth, and the awe that filled creation at his coming.
