The celebrated Ma‘ariful Qur’an, an 8-volume Urdu commentary on the Qur'an, by Mawlana Mufti Muhammad Shafi was first published in the early 1970s. Decades later, the Ma‘ariful Qur’an was translated into English by his two sons Mufti Taqi Uthmani and Mawlana Muḥammad Wali Razi, as well as Professor Muhammad Shameem.
Realising the need for a comprehensive single-volume work on the Quran for non-specialists who may not find the Ma‘ariful Qur’an accessible, Mufti Taqi Uthmani has produced The Noble Quran: Meaning with Explanatory Notes.
Printed on fine Japanese paper, the Arabic text of the Quran is set in the style of the Madinan mushaf. The thoughtful page design facilitates easy reading of both Arabic and English, with the Arabic text held at the top of the page, and the English translation and explanation occupying the lower two-thirds.
The Quran concludes with a traditional du'a of khatam followed by a 22-page index for easy reference.
