Sultan Selim I: The Conqueror of the East
Sultan Selim I was an extraordinary sultan who virtually re-established the Ottoman state during his reign from 1512 to 1520. This work relates his approach to developments in his time when the Ottomans expanded enormously. The book is an important reference on Selim's march for the conquest of the East as he unified Muslim lands in the region.
The book covers the various episodes of the Sultan's life: his years of childhood and princedom, his struggle for power, sultanate approaches to matters with the East, his rivalry with Shah Ismail, his first and second campaigns to the East, and the period of caliphate.
