The final permutation of a three part offerings crossing the Straits of Johor, Iskandar offers a re-reading of his confessional poetry book, I Love Too Quietly at Wardah Books where he began his writing foray. This gathering serves as a kind of retrospective, swan song, doa penutup (closing prayer) to this chapter of his river before he meanders into the next.
The session attempts to weave poetic vignettes surrounding the multitudes of loving with a peak into the contextual undercurrents of this second collection.
Noor Iskandar is a multi-disciplinary artist and writer based in Singapore, formerly lecturing at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art. His practice delves into faith and art, revolving around faculties of losing and light. He earned his Masters in Arts (Research) degree from NTU School of Art, Design and Media. His works have been exhibited and published in Singapore, London, Valencia, Pingyao, Belfast and Bandung. He is intrigued by the sacrality of feelings, the power as well as failings of words and remembrances. He too, is obsessed with Iran, the afterscent of rain and old books.
